3D printed resin clear parts become hazy after wash and cure, so how to get crystal clear parts? We're listing 5 different methods starting from the easiest.
Method 1: The clear sheet template

Print your clear part with standard resin and use it as a template to cut clear sheets.
This method is quick and easy, and works perfectly with large clear parts like windscreen or canopy. However, it's not suitable for parts with complex shapes.
Method 2: Brush on clear resin after cure
For smaller parts such as lights, you can print the model using clear resin. After you finished washing and curing the model, you can use the same resin you used for printing to brush on an extra layer, before curing the model again.
The extra layer of brushed clear resin will improve the smoothness of the surface and make the model more translucent, but your model will become slightly thicker.
Method 3: Gloss clear spray after cure
Similar to method 2, we can also spray gloss clear spray to the clear model after cure. The extra layer of gloss varnish will also improve the smoothness of the surface and make the model more translucent.
This method is easy and quick, but the result might not be good enough for larger parts.
Method 4: The vacuum former
Vacuum form is another method of making clear parts for perfectionists. First print the model using standard resin by laying your prints flat, then slightly sand the model to get rid of the potential layer lines. Finally, use the vacuum forming machine to heat up clear sheets and make it adhere to the shape of your 3D print.
This method requires you to buy the vacuum former and clear sheets, but gives very good results, especially on large parts like windshield and canopies.
Method 5: The good old polishing
When nothing works, the good old polishing method is your last resort. Use sand paper to sand the model from low to high grit, then transition to polishing compound with a microfiber cloth. This method can be applied to any type of prints but is time consuming.
